Mat Pilates

Mat was the first form of pilates, developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. And the only equipment it requires? Yourself.

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Mat Teacher Training Course

We have worked to put a comprehensive course together that goes above and beyond any other to close many of the gaps that we experienced as teachers when we first qualified. Our courses are Internationally Accredited by ITTAP through The Pilates Method Alliance and we are a CIMSPA Training Partner.

We aim to share our learnings and experiences to set you up for maximum success and a prosperous career!

Our courses are capped at a small number of students which allows us to prioritise coaching you as an individual throughout the training programme.

What’s included:

  • A welcoming and encouraging learning community where you'll gain not only knowledge and skills, but also a supportive peer group to learn, grow, and succeed alongside.

  • Our Human Movement Course which is designed to support the anatomy and movement science component of your training through a clear, accessible and practical learning experience.

You’ll gain access to a comprehensive online learning platform containing recorded lectures, detailed manuals and downloadable resources to help you build a deeper understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and human movement.

  • Five in-person practical training days with our industry leading teacher trainers at either our dedicated training centre or boutique Pilates Studio.

  • A Training Manual that covers the execution of each exercise along with how to cue, correct, modify and progress clients. We cover ALL of the Classical exercises (including transition) from the Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced tiers as well as other more contemporary exercises, to set you up for maximum success in your career.

  • A series of workshops to ensure you graduate feeling confident, capable, and industry ready.

-The History of Joseph Pilates and the evolution of Classical & Contemporary Pilates

    -The Principles of Pilates

    -Inclusive language training

    -Classroom management

-Programming to provide you with the skills to confidently programme and teach both classical and contemporary Pilates in studio classes and one-to-one sessions.

  • A welcoming and encouraging learning community where you'll gain not only knowledge and skills, but also a supportive peer group to learn, grow, and succeed alongside.

The Road To Certification:

Once your 5 day intensive course is complete, you will then put it all into practice by completing:-

30 Observation hours (observing other teachers using our online platform or by attending other teachers classes)

25 personal study hours (practicing every exercise in the manual on your own body and understanding the exercises inside out)

25 practice teaching hours (planning & delivering 25 hours of practice classes)

These hours ensure that once you pass your exams, you are ‘industry ready’ and can teach confidently and competently in studios. Our students are highly sought after in studios as they already have hands-on experience teaching clients and therefore you are more likely to get a job and pay back your initial training investment.

It is the responsibility of each student to organise and complete these hours.. Many of our students rent the studio at our training centre (£30 per hour) or their local studio and then charge their clients a small fee to cover the cost. This is a bargain for the clients and means that you don’t incur any further cost!

Exams:

Once these hours are logged and you feel confident and competent with your teaching, you will be eligible to take your exams. We structure our courses to set you up for success in your exams.

The Human Movement Exam is an online 50 question multiple choice exam.

The Mat Theory Exam is an online 30 question multiple choice exam. It is the practical application of teaching including who would and wouldn’t teach certain exercises, the goals of the exercises and how to add challenges & modifications etc.

The Practical Exam requires you to program and deliver a 45 minute class to demonstrate your ability to plan & deliver in a real life studio setting. We will then ask you to teach 5 exercises at random from the manual to ensure you have a compressive understanding of the entire manual. You will need to source a client to teach and this will be done with us across zoom.

The exams are covered as part of the training price; there is no additional cost.
